Scores of people Wednesday blocked Charar-e-Sharif road and disrupted vehicular movement demanding registration of FIR against Army for allegedly vandalizing over a dozen residential houses in Khiagam Pakharpora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The protesters alleged that at around 3 am on Wednesday morning, army soldiers barged into over a dozen houses and damaged property there.

“The army soldiers ransacked houses and smashed window panes creating fear psychosis among inhabitants,” said the protesters to news agency CNS amid shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

The locals described the army action as unprovoked and uncalled for. “We don’t understand why they targeted our houses,” they said.

The protesters were demanding registration of FIR against the army personnel responsible for the act.

Pertinently, a day before locals from Bugam village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district alleged that army soldiers vandalized their properties and manhandled people irrespective of age and gender on Monday night.

Despite repeated attempts, the Srinagar based Defense spokesperson could not be contacted.

A police official said that they are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, locals’ residents from Zaloora village of North Kashmir’s Sopore town alleged that on the pretext of a search operation, government forces ransacked their houses and thrashed inmates.

“The government forces arrived in the village at around 11 in the night and dragged people out of their houses. We were forced to spend whole night in the lawn and when we returned, found houses ransacked,” locals alleged. (CNS)
