Police on Saturday detained seven persons in connection with an attack on a policeman guarding Pakherpora shrine in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. At the same time three policemen have been placed under suspension after initial inquiry established that all of them were found absent from duty.

Official sources told GNS that Special Operations Group (SOG) Pakherpora picked up seven suspected persons for questioning. However, sources declined to disclose their identity.

Meanwhile, police authorities suspended three cops Shakeel Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi who were on unauthorized leave and Mohammad Altaf who had gone to market, all the men were supposed to be on duty along with the cop Shabir Ahmad who was injured after assailants attacked him last evening.

Regarding the incident, sources said, the unknown militants at around 08:10 pm Friday barged inside guard room at Pakherpora and attacked Constable Shabir Ahmad with an iron rod on his head.

Later they opened trunk and decamped with 03 SLR with 03 Magzines and 60 rounds, sources added.
