SRINAGAR: A car bomb killed at least 16 people, including five police personnel, in Kohat district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, Geo TV reported.
According to a senior police official cited by local broadcaster Geo News, an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the gate of the Old Police Lines, triggering the blast.
Kohat District Hospital official Tahir Ali Shah said 15 bodies had been brought to the facility, along with several wounded people.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police identified those killed as 11 civilians and five police officers. Police also said one “terrorist” was killed in the explosion.
The blast left a crater outside a mosque located within the police compound.
Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, in a post on X, confirmed that an explosion had occurred near a police facility in Kohat and expressed grief over the loss of lives, but did not give a death toll.
Separately, seven militants were killed by Pakistani security forces in two operations in southwestern Balochistan province, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
