SRINAGAR: The Uri National Highway will remain temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on 20 September 2026 to facilitate hill-cutting work, according to an order issued by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Uri.
The permission for the closure was granted following a request from the Officer Commanding, 53 RCC (GREF), the order stated.
The SDM has advised the general public, commuters and transport operators to use the alternative Bandi-Paranpilan-Dachi route during the closure period.
The executing agency has been directed to reopen the highway for vehicular movement immediately after completion of the hill-cutting work, subject to the necessary safety clearance of the site and confirmation that the route is safe for commuters.
The closure is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026.
