Pakistan has refused to host the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union (CPU) Conference citing its inability to invite Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly. The venue has been shifted to New York across seas and huge masses of land in the United States.

Reports coming from Pakistani capital of Islamabad said that the Pakistan establishment has sent its concern to London based headquarter of CPU.

“We have clarified to the London Secretariat of the Commonwealth that Kashmir is a disputed territory and now it is impossible for the Commonwealth Conference to be held in Pakistan,” National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq was quoted as having said.

Claiming that Kashmir Issue cannot be “overlooked at any cost”, he said, ‘”a detailed letter will be written to the CPA countries over the Kashmir dispute and the Kashmir issue will be raised in every forum of the Commonwealth.”
