In a statement issued via social media, the ministry confirmed, “Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today. The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported. India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.”

Defence sources said that eight missiles launched from across the border were aimed at military sites in Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia. These were intercepted by Indian Air Defence units before they could hit their intended targets.

In Jammu, residents were thrown into panic after sounds resembling powerful explosions rang out in the vicinity of the highly guarded airport. The area, which includes critical Indian Air Force and Army installations, was plunged into darkness following a sudden power outage. Emergency sirens blared across the city, and locals were urged to take shelter indoors.

Officials confirmed that the explosions were linked to the detection and interception of hostile aerial objects. “Several Pakistani drones were brought down by the anti-drone defence system,” a senior security official said.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing one of the drones fall outside the airport compound. “The sky lit up with flares and loud bangs were heard. People stepped out onto their balconies to witness what appeared to be an aerial engagement,” said a resident of Trikuta Nagar.

As of now, there is no confirmation of damage to infrastructure or personnel. Search and sweep operations continue across the targeted areas.
