Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pattan Hameeda Akhtar who has been entrusted the job to probe the killing of Palhalan youth Farooq Ahmed Bhat Thursday recorded the statements of four eyewitnesses.
She told CNS that some local youth and trade union leaders approached her and recorded their statements with regard to the killing of Farooq Ahmed Bhat.
“The four eyewitnesses appeared before her without any hesitation and got their statements recorded. I could not record the statements of family memebers of slain youth as they are still in shock and it can be done only after the slain youths Chaharum,” she added.
Lauding the role of police for their cooperation, Hameeda Akhtar said that police has provided her the FIR copy, however, “the deployment statement is still pending with them. Police will hopefully provide me details about the policemen who were deployed in Palhalan when the killing occurred,” she said.
She appealed the eyewitnesses to come forward and record their statements. “I assure all the eyewitnesses that names will not be revealed before anyone,” she said.
