SRINAGAR
Amidst anti-India and pro-freedom slogans Farooq Ahmad Bhat was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Palhalan.
Thousands of mourners attended his Nimaz-e-Jinaza and funeral.
Bhat, 24 was killed in police firing yesterday during a protest.
The protest was held to demand for the return of the mortal remains of the parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on his second anniversary. Guru was hanged and buried in Tihar jail Delhi on February 9, 2013.
“Police has taken cognizance into this highly regrettable and unfortunate incident,” the spokesman said. Adding, “FIR has been registered and the incident is being investigated to ascertain the facts.”
Meanwhile, strict restrictions have been put in place around Palhalan to stop people from reaching on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway.
