Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, President, Prof Saifuddin Soz Saturday declared that the Congress party’s unequivocal position on the 73rd Amendment of the Constitution of India was that unless these provisions are incorporated into the Panchayat Act of Jammu and Kashmir, the Sarpanchs and Panchs can never be empowered. “Therefore, Congress Party’s struggle in achievement of this goal would continue”, he said and added that it was in the fitness of things to hold elections to the Local Bodies as early as possible’.
Soz was speaking while addressing a one day Workers Convention of South Kashmir at Dak Bunglow Khanbal Islamabad.
Soz emphasized that since he was visiting every nook and corner of the state, he felt assured that Congress party would emerge as the single largest party in the elections in J&K Legislative Assembly in 2014.
