 The Traffic Police city Srinagar has decided to continue its drive against the violators and in the coming days traffic rule violations will be acted tough.

SP Traffic City Haseeb-ur-Rehman said in the last two months record number of violators have  been fined for different type of offences which includes 4487 fined without seat belt, 3613 fined without wearing uniform and 820 fined without wearing crash helmet.

“In April alone an amount of Rs 2308460 has been collected as fine from the violators. However, despite this the violations still continue and the department is now planning new strategies to curb violations,” he revealed.

“The cases of the frequent violators are being referred to transport department for cancellation of their licenses or permits,” The SP said and added in coming days special attention will be paid towards visible offences like driving without helmet, triple riding, using mobile phone while driving and jumping red signal.

Traffic department is also planning to start awareness programmes involving different schools and colleges of Srinagar city.
