Syed Ali Geelani

Expressing concern over the identification of eight hundred Kanals of land for proposed Pandit colonies, Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani has said that we don’t oppose the rehabilitation of Pandits instead we are all against setting “separate townships” for migrant Pandits.

In a statement issued here, Geelani said that state rulers are following “RSS ideology” and a conspiracy is being hatched to create situation like that of Palestine.

“We welcome the Pandits return to valley, however separate colonies are not acceptable,” Geelani said.

Blaming India for “nurturing and instigating” sectarian sentiments, Geelani said that they are “desperate” to “communalize” situation and defame on-going “freedom movement”. “Pundits are important part of our society and we want to revive glorious past between the two communities,” Geelani said, adding, “Administration should share responsibility for their rehabilitation and provide them with sufficient assistance so that they can reconstruct their dwellings in their respective hometowns.”

Warning the government, Geelani said that we won’t allow anybody to create Palestine like situation here. “Stubborn approach of state rulers will prove counterproductive.” Criticizing union rulers for their deceit, Geelani said that the move is aimed to “protract” uncertainty and instead of resolution of Kashmir issue, they are trying hard to malign and bring bad name for the people of state.

Geelani said that their sole aim is to portray “resistance movement” as “communal and asked state rulers to show wisdom and refrain to display their state & “military” might. “This move will neither serve to Pandit community nor will it serve any good to the state.”
