SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s administration on Tuesday constituted a high-level panel to make recommendations to the government for naming schools, colleges and roads after martyrs and eminent personalities.

According to Government Order No:-835-JK(GAD) of 202, in supersession of Government Order No. 595-JK(GAD) of 2000 dated 26.05.2000, the Committee for making recommendations on the representation/proposals for the installation of statues/memorial plaques, naming of roads and buildings and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

It reads that the panel would be headed by the administrative secretary Home and comprise of senior bureaucrats of the J&K administration.

It added that administrative secretary, department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, administrative secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, special director general of police, Criminal Investigation Department, Administrative Secretary, General Administration Department, administrative secretary, Culture department and divisional commissioner(s) would be members of the committee.

The Committee may co-opt ad-hoc members for any particular proposal, shall be serviced by the General Administration Department and submit its recommendations to the Government for final decision by the Administrative Council, reads the order.
