SRINAGAR: Panic gripped several villages in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday late night after heavy cross LoC firing started in district, locals said.

The locals of district Kupwara told Kashmir Life on the phone that they were panicked by the heavy exchange of gunfire that erupted around 10:30 pm in Panzgam and other adjacent areas.

“The sound of motor shells and firing has panicked the villagers,” locals said.

An official confirmed that the intermittent exchange of shelling was started. However, there were no immediate reports of any damage on this side of the divide, he said.
