SRINAGAR: A Power Development Department (PDD) employee died after suffering an electric shock while repairing an electric line in Chatergam area of Budgam district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Amin, a resident of Khanda in Pulwama district.
Sources said Amin was carrying out repair work on an electric line when he came in contact with the current and suffered critical injuries. He was subsequently taken for medical treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of employees engaged in repair and maintenance of power infrastructure, particularly the need for strict adherence to power isolation and safety protocols during such operations. (KNT)
