Residents of New Colony Dudwan in Kupwara district on Tuesday said that they are without electricity for last 20 days after their transformer was damaged.

They alleged that the In-charge AEE PDD division Kupwara indulged in an argument with them and got furious. “He is deliberately making the residents suffer now,” they alleged.

They said that despite repeated requests to the said officer the transformer has not been repaired yet.

They alleged that after making repeated rounds to his office, the officer said, “Do whatever you can do, I don’t care,” a resident alleged.

Pertinently, the Divisional Engineer post is lying vacant in Kupwara.

The residents said that they approached the deputy commissioner and requested for the repairing of the transformer.
“The DC ordered immediate installation of 100KV transformer within a day, but then four days have passed and the officer is not paying heed to the DC’s order.”

“Yesterday we again went to the DC sahib and he called him (Inch-AEE) and took serious note but still nothing happened,” a resident said.

The residents have appealed to the Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir for redressal of their grievance.

When contacted, CE PDD Kashmir Shahnaz Goni assured that the matter will be resolved soon.
