A prisoner languishing in Kupwara district jail is seriously ill, reports said on Tuesday.
Tariq Ahmad Ganai, a resident of Mimender, Shopian is suffering from hypertension, heart ailment and diabetes, they said.
“I along with my son met Tariq Ahmad a couple of days before and found him in a very bad health condition,” Tariq’s wife was quoted by a media report as having said.
Tariq was arrested in the month of August in Abi Guzar Srinagar and was booked under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA). He was shifted to Kuthua district jail.
Tariq was recently shifted to Kupwara district jail where he according to his family sources is suffering from many ailments.
“If not released immediately his condition may deteriorate,” Tariq’s wife said.
The family of Tariq has appealed the authorities to look into the case of her husband on humanitarian grounds.
