Jammu

It was another day of chaos in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday as the Opposition PDP walked out over the Baramulla firing issue in which a 25-year-old man was killed. The PDP boycotted the state budget over the issue saying Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was incapable of ensuring the safety of Kashmiris.

PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said, “If the Chief Minister is helpless, if he can’t safeguard the life of his own people, then who is he? Is he there to impose curfew? What is his authority?”

This came a day after Omar Abdullah broke down in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after opposition PDP confronted him over the killing of the youth in Baramulla during protests. The PDP shouted slogans against the government in the Assembly and some of its members walked out. The Independent MLAs too demanded answers over the killing of the Baramulla youth and created a ruckus in the state legislature.
