SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) criticised PDP President Mehbooba Mufti for publicly opposing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s efforts to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the current situation of the Union Territory is a result of the PDP’s misguided actions in the past.
In a statement issued to the press, JKNC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said that the PDP appeared unsettled by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s determined push for statehood restoration.
“Omar Sahib’s call for the restoration of statehood has clearly caused unease, particularly within the PDP. As Chief Minister, it is his responsibility to advocate for this cause, and he has done so with dignity and professionalism. This stands in stark contrast to the servile tone Mehbooba Ji often adopted during her tenure as Chief Minister when addressing the Government of India,” he said.
Imran further accused the PDP of being consistently rejected by the electorate across various elections, from DDC to parliamentary and legislative assembly polls.
“It’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black. No amount of deflection will change the fact that the people have repeatedly rejected the PDP and its policies. It’s time for the PDP to accept its diminished role and allow Omar Sahib’s government to work on reclaiming what was taken from us, largely due to the PDP’s deceptions. This theatrical display by Mehbooba Ji won’t sway public opinion. People see through her antics and won’t be misled,” he added.
