SRINAGAR: A feeble Western Disturbance (WD) is expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, with light snowfall likely at isolated higher reaches over the next 48 hours.
Director of the Meteorological Department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that light snow is possible at isolated higher reaches during the early morning hours of January 16.
He further said that from January 17 to 19, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy, with no significant changes anticipated during this period.
For January 20 and 21, generally cloudy weather is expected, with the possibility of light snowfall at isolated to scattered locations.
Additionally, minimum temperatures in Kashmir have once again settled below normal. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, registered a low of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, recorded a minimum of minus 7.8 degrees Celsius. Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.7 degrees Celsius, Kokernag recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, and Gulmarg, a well-known ski resort, registered a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the MeT Department has issued an advisory, urging tourists, travelers, and transporters to adhere to administrative and traffic advisories. (KNO)
