The two coalition partners, PDP and BJP, have formed an alliance for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh scheduled to be held on October 17.

While announcing the development, BJP vice president, Sat Sharma, a party in-charge of LAHDC, said 20 seats out of 26 seats were finalized – “four of them have been left for alliance partner PDP”.

Sharma said his party will ensure that PDP and BJP gain majority in the LAHDC. “The remaining six seats will also be declared soon as the survey process for the same is on,” he said. “The BJP will field its own candidates on these six seats also.”

This year, it’s fifth election for LAHDC, since its constitution in 1995. It is for the first time BJP along with its alliance partner is eying LAHDC. So far, Congress has won the elections three times, and one time by Ladakh Union Territory Front (LUTF).

The filing of nomination papers will start from September 22 and last date will be September 29. The elections will be held on October 17 and counting on October 21.
