Terming PDP a ‘property developer party’, Working President, National Conference and J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Sunday said  that all “turncoats, corruption tainted persons and unscrupulous elements have camped in PDP to make fortunes at the cost of the interests of people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“You have witnessed the fielding of corruption tainted candidates and people with stigmatized profile by the PDP in the Assembly elections which speaks volumes about the credentials of PDP and its leadership”, Omar said and added that grabbing power for personal interests and accumulating wealth is the only political agenda of PDP.

While addressing election rallies at Surankote, Poonch and Mendhar today he said, “PDP, Congress, BJP and other power thirsty parties imposed Election on the people of Jammu and Kashmir who were suffering from flood devastation and had lost their economy, crops, property, residential houses and other belongings in the floods.”

“Infact these parties wanted their political rehabilitation at first rather than the rehabilitation of the flood sufferers. National Conference was the only political party which opposed the holding of Elections at the time when total focus should have been on the rehabilitation of lakhs of flood affected families instead of asking them to come out for casting their votes,” Omar said.

The Chief Minister, however, added that National Conference had no choice but to accept the elections. “We are prepared to face the Elections and fight on our high profile performance and firm agenda for peace, political stability and inclusive development of the State,” Omar said and added that NC only relies on the support of common people enjoyed by this party since its inception.

He criticized Congress leadership for making the reckless, false and irresponsible statements to belittle the gigantic image and deep-rooted popularity of National Conference. “I have not compelled you to forge alliance with us and accept me the Chief Minister of the State for six years. National Conference never forcibility asked Congress to ally with it. It was the decision of Congress and its leadership. During over five and half years of the coalition government Congress leadership found no fault in NC or in the Government and suddenly in the election period they are putting all blames on National Conference falsely and untruly which he termed as an opportunists and deceitful approach,” Omar added.

He said that when he took over the Chief Ministership of Jammu and Kashmir, the earlier government of Congress and PDP had put the state into the situation of ‘clashes, confusion, communal frenzy, regional bias, hatred and retrogress.’ “It was my government which nurtured peace and gave development and transparency a new dimension making people the masters and bringing the government functioning under the full public scan” he said and added that achievements of his government on peace and development fronts, empowering of people, governance and strengthening of institutions to curb corruption, are glaring and historic. He said the false propaganda by vested interests cannot eclipse these achievements.

The Working President, National Conference also rejected the propaganda of BJP against him and his party and described the pretended Kashmir friendly intentions of BJP as a mirage and its sympathy with people as crocodile tears. He said BJP cannot astray people by false narrations on spending of funds. He said in three constituencies of Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar alone more than Rs.1000 crore projects have been launched in the last six years particularly in the communication, health and education sectors.

Omar claimed that National Conference stands for peaceful, modern and economically self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir and would continue its strive for achieving this stupendous goal.

He said like in 1977 all anti-National Conference forces has joined together at this time again to damage the mass base of National Conference which represents aspirations of people and upholds the cause and interests of common masses. He said people will give them befitting reply by bringing National Conference back to power and giving it absolute majority in the Assembly. He asked the people to vote in large numbers in favour of National Conference and defeat opportunists, divisive and vested interests in the Elections.

The election rallies were also addressed by the National Conference candidates, Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Javed Rana and legislator Dr, Shehnaz Ganai.

A spokesman of the NC said during the rallies various opinion leaders, prominent citizens and youth joined National Conference. On reaching the venues Omar was given rousing welcome by the participants shouting slogans in his and in favour of National Conference and the National Conference candidates, he added.
