MLA Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat on Monday urged the government that 2009 Shopian rape and murder case should be reopened and investigated afresh.
While speaking during the discussion on grants session, he alleged that the case was not investigated properly and those investigating succumbed to the political pressure.
“I was a lawyer in the case on the side of Asiya Neelofar. Eyewitness and I were harassed,” he said, “I was made to stand in convicts stockade.”
He urged that the case should be reopened so that justice is done with the victims and the culprits are brought to justice.
Meanwhile, Opposition also supported his demand and agreed with him that the case should be reinvestigated.
