First time in the recent history, a protest demonstration carried out inside Civil Secretariat, housing the seat of government.
The protest demonstration was carried by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members led by senior PDP leaders Firdous Tak, Aijaz Mir and Yawar Mir.
The protesters assembled in the canteen of the Secretrait and marched in its lawns, demanding an end to unabated civilian killings at the hands of government forces. The protesters were carrying banners which read stop innocent killings in Kashmir. The protesters later entered the secretariat and carried protest inside it with Chief Secretary V V R Subrahmanyam and two advisors of Governor Khurshid Ganie and KK Sharma.
While talking to the newsgatherer the former MLC Firdous Tak alleged that the Governor has failed and New Delhi needs to react before situation slips out of hand.
Tak said that blood is spilled on streets of Kashmir by government forces and such vicious cycle of violence needs to be put to an end sooner otherwise situation will come to such a passe and nobody would be able to control it.
Following the protests, IGP Jammu SD Singh Jamwal, DIG Jammu Vivek Gupta along with other senior officers rushed to the civil secretariat and are taking stock of the situation.
On Saturday seven civilians were killed in post encounter clashes at Pulwama including an MBA graduate from Indonesia University who had returned only last year. (GNS)
Those who throw stones petrol bombs at the security forces are not innocent and at the first place why are they at the site of conflict. So please tell them not to be at the place where encounter is going on. And stop blaming the army.
