However, the party has evolved a consensus over the fact that it would reach out to the people with a message of having “credible, honest and articulate” representatives in parliament and the Legislative Assembly.

The Political Affairs Committee of the part which met here on Saturday evening was attended by PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti PDP president, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Naeem Akhter. The meeting, chaired by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, reviewed the prevalent political situation in the state and discussed party affairs in the context of the upcoming general elections.

The meeting opined that the party should try and field serious and competent candidates to provide a better alternative to voters, sources in the party told KNS. Besides the poll strategy, the important issues to be taken up by the party were discussed in the meeting.

During the meeting it was resolved by the party that the self rule was the only solution to the Kashmir issue.
