Coming down heavily on Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehboba Mufti over her recent remarks on Modi and Rahul Gandhi, the state Congress termed the move appeasement to BJP.

Senior Congress leader and the state minister, Taj Mohi-ud-din Thursday stated that the Mehbooba’s remarks over Rahul Gandhi that he  had the opportunity to be at the forefront of the anti-corruption movement, but he squandered the opportunity, are baseless and sans logic.

Taj maintained that it was the Congress that introduced Right to Information act (RTI) in India and that the same government got the Lok pal bill passed in the parliament. “I think the statements she (Mehbooba) is making, must not be taken seriously. They are now playing the power politics.”

The PDP President had earlier  stated that the “general impression” about BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Jammu and Kashmir is that he is “divisive”, a section of people feels that he will be able to take “certain tough decisions… maybe positive ones” (on the Kashmir issue).

Taj stated that the statement wherein Modi is being praised by PDP vindicates that the party wants to appease BJP and those who used to be their foes are now turning out to be their friends.
