PDP’s businessman outnumbers NC’s Wani and BJP’s lady dentist in Amira Kadal
In his first ever electoral battle in 2014, PDP’s business-tycoon-turned-politician Altaf Ahmad Bukhari has weighed heavy on National Conference Provincial President and former MLA from Amira Kadal Nasir Aslam Wani.
As the counting ended on Wednesday, 11726 voters had cast ballot in favour of Bukhari against Wani’s figure of 6385 votes. The contest in Amira Kadal had become interesting after Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) female face and dentist-turned-politician Dr Hina Bhat remained in media buzz before polls.
In past, Amira Kadal has largely remained an NC stronghold. However, after September floods, the electoral prospects of Wani had suffered a major blow when the state government failed to reach flood affected peoples.
Bukhari’s win has also jolted electoral career of BJP’s Dr Hina, who could secure only 1359 votes. Amira Kadal had witnessed 24.81 percent polling on December 14.
