Chief Minister Ms Muhbooba Mufti has had detailed meetings with her two lawyers who resigned in protest on Friday. There has not been any outcome of these meetings, sources said.

The meetings took place after the senior party leaders had detailed deliberations with both of them, separately.

Ms Mufti had almost a 40-minurtes long meeting with Molvi Imran Ansari at her Fairview residence in Srinagar. It was one-to-one meeting. Ansari confirmed his meeting to Kashmir Life saying it was just a routine one in which he discussed “various issues.” He did not offer many details.

Sources close to him said that he discussed issues related to party and the government. He talked about his inability to work for the people whom he represented in the position he was entrusted with. He is also reported to have told the Chief Minister that his capacities as a political worker in the cabinet were not properly utilized.

It was not immediately known if the Chief Minister indicated any change in her mind. The meeting followed a series of informal meetings with senior party functionary Sartaj Madni, Pir Mansoor Hussain, Rafi Ahmad Mir and later a visit by Altaf Bukhari. It was infact after Bukhari’s induction that Chief Minister opted to go for a minor reshuffle in her cabinet.

Chief Minister had a detailed meeting with former Revenue Minister Basharat Bukhari at her residence. The meeting lasting or nearly two hours was also attended by Sartaj Madni and Tasaduq Mufti, sources said.

The tensions in the party started on Friday when two ministers resigned – Imran Ansari for not being given a better position and Basharat Bukhari for being pushed from Revenue to a fairly smaller Horticulture department. The resignations are with the Chief Minister and have not been sent to Raj Bhawan for acceptance as the party is trying to find a way out.
