Renowned Sufi Peer Afzal Fazili of Bandipora passed away late Saturday evening after a brief illness at Gamoora. The deceased was 103.
Reports reaching here said that late Sufi Peer’s Nimaaz-e-Jinaza was offered at 9:30 am Sunday in a local Eid Gah in Gamoora village, which was attended by thousands of people.
Ailing Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, in his condolence message, described Fazili as a legendary Sufi personality whose death was a blow to fraternity of Sufis in the restive valley.
Fazili, who devoted his life completely to Almighty, had opted for premature retirement from government service in year 1977. He was born in 1912.
PDP spokesperson and Minster for Education, Naeem Akther said Fazili was a hope for thousands of ailing persons who would visit him for spiritual help.
