Ruling coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday expressed grief over the demise of prominent religious figure and saint Peer Mohammad Afzal Fazili.

Late Fazili hails from the prominent family of Abdul Ahad Nadim (Sufi Saint) and famous historian Ghulam Hassan Khoihami.

While expressing deep condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family, PDP Patron & Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Party president & MP Mehbooba Mufti  have also recalled his services to the humanity and said that late Fazili was a symbol of tranquillity and brotherhood, a party statement said this afternoon.

“The leaders said that the tireless social service of Fazili would be remembered for long. They also prayed for lasting peace for the departed soul,” the statement said.

Party senior leader and MP, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, General secretaries Nizamudin Bhat , Mohammad Rafi Mir, Political advisor to president Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and many others also expressed deep condolences over Fazili’s demise.

Nizamudin Bhat along with local PDP leaders also visited the residence after attending Nimaaz-i- Jinaza to convey condolences to the bereaved family, the statement added.
