Scores of areas in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district as well as Tral town, Tuesday observed shutdown against the killings of two militants killed during gun-fight with Indian troopers on Monday.

Reports said that the Hizb recycled militant Javid Salfi was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Bulbal Nowgam in Anantnag town. Hundreds of people participated in his last rites while youth and women took out a procession raising pro-freedom slogans.

Scores of areas of Anantnag mourned the death of the militant and observed shutdown, however the life was reported normal in main town Anantnag as all the shops and business establishments remained open while transport plied smoothly on roads.

Pertinently, Hizb militant Javid Salfi was killed in a encounter in Shempora hamlet of Qazigund town on Monday. Police after retrieving his body from debris handed over it to the family for last rites.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmir’s Tral town against the killing of a non-local militant Raja Muzafar in an encounter with Indian troopers in Dadasara area of Tral. All the shops and business establishments remained closed in different parts of Tral including Dadasara, Noorpora, Ruthsana and Amlar. (CNS)
