SRINAGAR: Petrol and diesel prices were increased on Saturday, marking the third revision in the past 10 days.
Petrol became costlier by 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices rose by 91 paise per litre. With the latest revision, petrol now stands at Rs 99.51 per litre and diesel at Rs 92.49 per litre.
This is the third increase since May 15, when state-run oil marketing companies began passing on higher global energy costs linked to the ongoing situation in the Middle East. On May 15, prices were raised by Rs 3 per litre, followed by a 90 paise increase on May 19, bringing the cumulative rise to nearly Rs 5 per litre.
The latest hike comes a day after the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that India has sufficient petrol and diesel stocks despite circulating concerns.
