SRINAGAR

A day after senior National Conference Minister Chaudhary Ramzan ‘abused’ a known public servant in a meeting at Civil Secretariat here, employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) took to streets demanding apology from the minister on Friday.

Pertinently, Senior NC Minister from North Kashmir had allegedly abused and slapped Chief Engineer PHE, M A Lanker in a review meeting in Civil secretariat which is being widely condemned. However, the minister later in a press conference refuted the allegations.

Irritated by Minister’s action, Chief Engineer PHE had resigned from the highest seat in the Engineering wing minutes after the incident.

“We want justice, Lanker sahab aagay bado -hum tumharay saath hai,” slogans were being chanted by the protesting employees.

The employees demanded that the accused minister should apologise otherwise they shall start a formal protest from Saturday.

“We appeal Working President of NC to deliver justice and take action against the Minister,” they demanded.

“We are convening a meeting later in the evening and if the minster does not apologise we will announce the protest schedule,” they warned.

Meanwhile, PHE engineers and other employees have raised a tent in the lawns of PHE head office in Srinagar and are protesting against the alleged move of the minister.
