SRINAGAR: A pigeon carrying a ring with a number inscribed on it was found in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district near the International Border on Monday, officials said.
According to officials, some locals noticed the pigeon under suspicious circumstances and informed the police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. The bird was subsequently taken into custody for examination.
A ring bearing a number was found tied to one of its legs, prompting authorities to look into the possibility of its cross-border origin or use.
Security agencies have been alerted, while the pigeon has been handed over for detailed examination. Police are verifying whether the bird was being used for any unlawful purpose.
