SRINAGAR

Rejecting temporary reorganization by its standing chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Peoples League has disbanded the present orientation of the organization and said that the reorganization would be made soon on ‘democratic lines.’

Meanwhile, the party has appointed its senior leader Mohammad Maqbool Sofi as interim chairman with another senior member Ghulam Nabi Darzi as executive member in Mirwaiz led Hurriyat Conference.

“After the death of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Sheikh Yaqoob was appointed as president whereas Mukhtar Ahmad Waza was appointed as vice chairman. But unfortunately Waza never stuck to party constitution and always indulged in violating it thus putting the party at risk. Therefore we have decided to call back Waza from Hurriyat executive council also and have asked him to step down from the vice chairmanship with immediate effect,” senior party leaders told media here.
