SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on March 7, 2024, to participate in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ program, a PIB statement said.

The visit will be marked by the dedication of a significant Rs 5000 crore ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ and the inauguration of tourism-related projects worth over Rs 1400 crore, reads a PIB statement.

Aiming to provide a major uplift to Jammu and Kashmir’s agri-economy, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ (HADP) to the nation. The integrated program covers horticulture, agriculture, and livestock husbandry, benefitting around 2.5 lakh farmers. The program includes skill development through the Daksh Kisan portal, establishing 2000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars, and creating robust value chains.

In line with his vision to enhance the tourist experience, Prime Minister Modi will launch initiatives worth more than Rs 1400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes. Key projects include the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ in Srinagar, developments in Meghalaya, Bihar, Rajasthan, and more.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit includes the execution of the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ project. The comprehensive project focuses on creating world-class infrastructure for pilgrims, featuring site development, illumination of the shrine precinct, improvement of ghats and paths, and various facilities to enhance the spiritual experience.

Launching 43 projects across the country, Prime Minister Modi’s visist highlights the development of pilgrimage and tourist sites. The projects cover significant religious sites, adventure parks, rural tourism clusters, ecotourism zones, and more. Additionally, 42 tourist destinations selected under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) Scheme will be announced during the visit.

Prime Minister Modi initiates the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024’ poll, seeking citizen engagement to identify the most preferred tourist attractions. The poll covers categories such as Spiritual, Cultural & Heritage, Nature and Wildlife, Adventure, and a unique ‘Other’ category where citizens can vote for personal favorites.

In a bid to leverage the strength of the Indian diaspora, Prime Minister Modi will launche the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign.’ Encouraging overseas Indians to become ambassadors for ‘Incredible India,’ the campaign aims to promote tourism to India and boost the country’s global image.

These initiatives signify the government’s commitment to transformative development in Jammu and Kashmir and across the nation, fostering economic growth and enhancing the tourism sector.
