Addressing the nation during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi advised citizens to take extra precautions to protect themselves from the intense heatwave conditions affecting several parts of the country.

“With temperatures soaring across much of the country, it is important to take extra care. Stay hydrated. If you need to step out in the sun, do so cautiously and take necessary precautions,” the Prime Minister said.

He stressed the importance of drinking water regularly and urged people to follow heat-related safety advisories issued by various government departments.

“Keep drinking water. Don’t forget the guidelines issued by various government departments in this regard either,” he said.

This is the second such appeal by the Prime Minister within a week. On May 27, Modi had also asked citizens to observe maximum precautions during the prevailing extreme weather conditions, emphasising that staying hydrated is essential during harsh summer months.

In a lighter reference during the broadcast, the Prime Minister also mentioned mangoes, describing them as an integral part of the summer season and noting that there is hardly a household where the king of fruits is not discussed during this time of year.
