Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will inaugurate 230-bedded Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super-specialty Hospital on April 19, 2016. The facility was set up by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at a cost of Rs 300 crore at Kakryal, near Katra.

Dr S S Bloeria, Member of the Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the Hospital told a news conference that the Shrine Board has entered into an agreement with Narayana Hrudayalaya Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, which operates 32 hospitals across the country, for operationalisation of this Hospital.

Giving details about the aims and objectives of establishing the Hospital, Dr Bloeria, state’s former Chief Secretary, said that free of cost OPD services and diagnostic tests have already been operationalised at the Hospital from March 15, 2016 while the Hospital has become fully functional from April 8.

The hospital has more than 20 different streams of medicine and surgery, including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neuro-surgery, nephrology, urology, oncology, pulmonology, bone-marrow transplant, gastroenterology, orthopedics, trauma-medicine, pediatrics and neo-natology, obstetrics and gynecology.

Briefing about diagnostic and treatment facilities put in place in this Hospital, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya, said that the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art computerised equipment to provide best possible diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients. These include Linear Accelerator, Brachy Therapy, Gamma Camera, MRI, CT Scan, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Bronchotherapy, most modern Dialysis Unit and other related facilities. He added that highly trained super-specialist doctors, nurses and other staff have been positioned at this hospital to deliver the healthcare services.

 

Earlier, Governor N N Vohra, the Shrine Board Chairman visited Kakryal to review the arrangements for the high profile visit.

The Governor was informed that the arrangements are being given the final touch for the Prime Minister’s visit. The PM, who accepted the Governor’s request to inaugurate two major Projects of the Shrine Board will proceed directly to Kakryal after arrival at Jammu for inaugurating the hospital.

Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address the 5th Convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and, later, address an invited gathering in the Sports Ground of the SMVDU where he will dedicate SMVDNS Hospital to the people and distribute cards on a token basis for free medical treatment at the Hospital to persons who live in the nearby villages from which land was acquired on which the University and the Hospital have been built.

B B Vyas also listed various facilities being made available at the super speciality hospital while Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO of Board gave details of the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra which has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 11 crore. Prime Minister will also dedicate the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra.

The Complex has a capacity for more than 10,000 spectators, including 2,600 in a covered pavilion. The Sports Complex has a magnificent ground turfed with premium quality grass with sprinkler irrigation system for organising track and field events as well as team sports like Football, Handball, Cricket, Hockey and Kabaddi.

Besides, a well equipped Gymnasium, a synthetic Lawn Tennis court, synthetic Basketball court and one Volleyball court have also been established. The Sports Complex also has indoor sports facilities for Table Tennis and Shooting.
