Ganderbal police on Sunday claimed to have arrested three persons for illegal excavation and transportation of soil. Besides, three vehicles were also seized from the spot.
The spokesman said that during the raid in the area, one JCB and two tippers bearing registration numbers JK03-8045 and JK03-9268 along with drivers identified as Sikandar Ahmad, a resident of Watler, Mohammad Amin Dar, a resident of Kharbagh Waskura and Mohammad Sultan Hajam, a resident of Kurhama were found indulging in illegal mining to excavate soil illegally. All the three vehicles were seized and the drivers were arrested from the spot.
In this regard, the police have registered cases under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up.
