Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 20 Kilograms of poppy straw from his possession while two persons were injured in road accidents in valley on Sunday.
“On a specific information Kulgam police headed by SHO Kulgam arrested a drug peddler Rameez Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Poniwa, Kulgam at village Kharwat, Kulgam and recovered 20 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession. A case FIR No. 132/2015 under section 8/15 NDPS was registered against him in Police Station Kulgam and investigation is on,” a police statement said this afternoon.
The statement further said that two persons were injured in two separate road accidents in the valley.
“An Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK14B/2598 hit and injured a pedestrian Rafaqat Famda resident of Haknar at Haknar, Ganderbal. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
A Qualis vehicle bearing registration number JK02Q-0040 driven by Sameer Ahmad Wani resident of Wusan Beerwah collided with a LP truck near petrol pump Qamerwari in the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora, Srinagar, resulting in injuries to the driver of Qualis vehicle. The injured was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar for treatment,” the statement said.
