J&K police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered codeine phosphate from their possession in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

“Acting on a tip off, a police party of Police Post Janglatmandi headed by DO Janglatmandi Mudasir Ahmad laid a naka in its jurisdiction, JKP spokesperson said on Sunday evening.

“During the naka checking, a Motorcycle bearing registration number PB-07AB55-25 was intercepted. During search 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate was recovered from the possession of Mukhtar Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir resident of Shelipora, Achabal and Mudasir Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Yaqoob Dar resident of Brakpora, Islamabad.”

The spokesperson said that a case FIR number 155/16 under section 21/22 NDPS was registered against them and investigation was taken up.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson added that five persons were injured in two separate road accidents in Handwara and Srinagar.

In Handwara, a Santro car bearing registration number JK01Q-0541 collided with a Tipper bearing registration number JK09-7734 at Chogal, resulting in injuries to Zakir Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Yusuf Sheikh, Idrees Ahmad Sheikh and Rukhsana Begum, residents of Lalpora.

All the injured were shifted Sub District Hospital Handwara for treatment.

In Srinagar, a Tipper bearing registration number JK04C- 1600 driven by Gulzar Ahmad Dar resident of Waterwani, Budgam hit a Tanga near T K College, resulting in injuries to the Tanga driver Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Sozaith Goripora. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
