Police raided a gambling site and arrested five gamblers in Pulwama while two drup peddlers were detained in Islamabad. Stake money of Rs 1.8 Lac was recovered from the gambling site.

“Acting on a tip off, police party of Police Post Lassipora headed by SI Mudasir Ahmad raided a gambling site at Naina Batpora and arrested five gamblers. The gamblers were identified as Muzaffar Ahmad resident of Khallan, Sameer Ahmad, Muhammad Abdullah residents of Mailhoora, Bashir Ahmad resident of Naina Batpora and Farooq Ahmad resident of Litter, Pulwama. Stake money of Rs 1.8 Lac and a set of cards was recovered from the spot,” a police statement said Thursday evening.

A case FIR number 385/2015 under section 13 Gambling Act was registered against them and investigation taken up, the statement added.

The statement further informed that two drug peddlers were arrested in Islamabad and 22 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Srigufwara headed by SI Ghulam Mohammad under the supervision of SHO Srigufwara Shri Bashir Ahmad laid a naka at Sakadas. During naka checking, a Maruti van bearing registration number JK03A-6702 was intercepted and on search, 22 Kilograms of Poppy Straw was recovered. Two persons Abdul Hamid son of Mohammad Ayoub Kumar and Sajad Ahmad Thokar son of Ghulam Mohammad residents of Waghama Bijbehara who were boarding the vehicle, were arrested.

A case FIR number 84/2015 under section 8/15 NDPS was registered against them and investigation was taken up.
