Police Arrest Seven Drug Peddlers in Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested seven drug peddlers in separate actions in Anantnag, Baramulla, and Kulgam, and recovered heroin-like and other contraband substances from their possession.

“In Anantnag, two individuals were arrested with heroin-like substances. Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Jehangir Khan, a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was found with 6 grams. A female suspect from Bawana JJ Colony, Delhi-39, was found with 3 grams. Another female suspect from Bangidar was apprehended near Bangidar Bridge with 7 grams. Additionally, Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam, son of Gul Mohammad Hajam, a resident of Saidwara, Dooru Shahabad, was found with 6 grams,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Police said, “In Baramulla, a police party led by SHO PS Kunzer intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint at Hardbani Kunzer Bridge. Mushtaq Ahmad Waza, son of Mohammad Ramzan Waza, resident of Mamoosa Pattan, was found with 26 grams of contraband and cash amounting to Rs 4,000. Abdul Qayoom Parra, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Parra, resident of Reram Kunzer, was found with 20 grams of Charas-like substance. Both have been arrested and remain in custody at the police station.”

In Kulgam, a police party led by IC PP Mirbazar intercepted a person during patrolling. “After checking, 302 grams of Charas powder-like substance were recovered. He has been identified as Muneeb Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Berigam Qazigund,” police said.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations. Further investigation is underway.
