Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Property

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Anantnag arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered over a kilogram of contraband along with cash, while in Budgam, authorities attached property worth lakhs belonging to a notorious offender.

In Anantnag, a police team from Bijbehara intercepted a Hyundai Creta at a checkpoint in Zirpara. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered approximately 1.2 kilograms of a Charas-like substance and ₹2.48 lakh in cash. The two suspects—Sabzar Ahmad Das and Adnan Nazir Das, both residents of Waghama Bijbehara—were arrested and taken into custody. The vehicle was also seized.

A case under FIR No. 102/2025 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police said further investigations are underway to unearth possible linkages to a broader drug network.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Budgam district, police attached immovable property of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, a known drug peddler from Nadigam Narbal. The property—a single-storey house built on one kanal and eleven marlas of land—is valued at around ₹40 lakh.

The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 464/2024 registered at Police Station Budgam. The case pertains to the seizure of a large quantity of Charas from Bhat’s possession.
