SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam have arrested two accused, which led to the recovery of stolen property. The incident came to light when Ghulam Mohammad Rather, a resident of Wadwan, lodged a complaint at Police Post Soibugh on 20 March, reporting the theft of paddy from his granary during the night of March 19-20.
Acting on the complaint, the police registered an FIR (No. 59/2025) under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Budgam and initiated an investigation.
During the probe, several suspects were questioned, and Umar Farooq Dar, a resident of Wadwan, confessed to the crime. He admitted to stealing the paddy and selling it to Toha Yousuf Dar of Gotapora Soibugh. Following this, police recovered approximately three quintals of stolen paddy from their possession, and both individuals were arrested.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the district.
