An orthodontist has been arrested for allegedly sexually molesting a woman patient in Srinagar, an official said on Thursday.
According to GNS, the official said that the dentist, Dr Shafiq-Ur-Rehman, was arrested for allegedly sexually molesting a woman at his clinic in uptown Maisuma.
The dentist was arrested after the woman lodged a complaint with the police.
“The woman has alleged that the doctor tried to molest her when she visited his private clinic for root-canal,” he said quoting her complaint.
Based on the complaint, police filed an FIR 34/2014 under section 34/2014 under section 509 RPC and started further investigations in this regard, the official said.
According to reports, the accused doctor hails from Nishat area of Srinagar city. He works in a government medical facility in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and had private practice at the clinic.
Such incidents may happen frequently until and unless we shall not abide by the saying of prophet Mohammed SAW mafoom that a womem cannot leave her residence till a person(mohram) cannot accompanied her.
