Police arrests drug peddler, bootlegger in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and bootlegger in two separate areas of Srinagar.

According to the police spokesman, a police party of police post Chanapora during a Naka checking apprehended one drug peddler identified as  Adil Farooq Mir son of Farooq Ahmad Mir resident Rambagh Bala and recovered 24 bottles of codeine phosphate, 345 tablets of Alprazolam and 40 strips of  Spasmo proxyvon (24 capsules in each strip) from his possession.

In this regard, a case FIR No 14/2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered against the accused & further investigation was taken up.

In another case, a police party apprehended a man identified as Mohammad Anees Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Hari Singh High Street & seized  43 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

In this connection, a case FIR No 14/2018 under section 48 Excise Act was registered & further investigation was taken up.
