SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar on Monday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“A police party from PS Ram Munshi Bagh intercepted three suspicious individuals at a checkpoint established near CD Hospital, Dalgate. They have been identified as Yawar Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Karni, resident of Abi Buchwara; Maroof Bilal Kolu, son of Bilal Ahmad Kolu, resident of Indranagar, Srinagar; and Shoib Hilal Lawaye, son of Hilal Ahmad Lawaye, resident of Drugjan, Dalgate. During the search, 9.6 grams of heroin were recovered from their possession,” a police spokesperson said.
In another operation at a checkpoint established at Sozeith Bund, a police team arrested a drug peddler identified as Abid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Sozeith Goripora. Police recovered 430 grams of charas and 750 grams of bhang powder concealed in a polythene bag from his possession.
Regarding the incidents, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated.
Meanwhile, police issued a warning to those involved in drug trafficking, cautioning that the law would catch up with them sooner than anticipated, and every offender would face the full force of the law. (KNO)
