Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, police on Thursday arrested Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik from his residence at Maisuma. A JKLF spokesman informed Kashmir Life.

“Police arrested Malik and took him to police station Kothi Bagh,” he said.

Police also detained Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir leaders, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan. A spokesman of the amalgam told Kashmir Life that Shah was detained at his residence a day before while as Khan was house arrested on Wednesday evening.

Pertinently, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani was placed under house arrest yesterday evening hours after he arrived from Delhi. According to Hurriyat (G) spokesman, dozens of its activists throughout the valley have been arrested and detained in different police stations.

Another Hurriyat (JK) leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam was arrested some days back and he has been detained in police station Batamalo.

Condemning the detention of frontline leadership, the spokesmen of all the separatist parties have called it as “undemocratic” and “an act of imperialism”.
