Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have attached property of a notorious drug peddler in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that Kupwara Police obtained the orders from the High Court for the attachment of property both movable and immovable including a residential house located at Village Amrohi Tehsil Karnah, Vehicle Alto K10 bearing Registration No: JK09B- 3813 and 07 Marlas of land located at District Budgam in case FIR No 02/2019 registered under section 8/21 NDPS Act at PS Kralpora. The properties belong to the notorious drug peddler Mohammad Saleem son of Alif-ud-Din Sheikh resident of Amrohi, Karnah and he is the main accused in this case.

“Saleem belongs to the border village Amrohi in Karnah and has been repeatedly indulging in cross border smuggling of drugs. He managed to escape when his 04 accomplices were arrested by Police in Chowkibal area of Kupwara on 30-01-2019 along with 19 Kgs of Heroin,” said the spokesman.

“The execution of orders for attachment of House at Karnah and Vehicle has been made. Moreover, the execution of order for the attachment of plot of land located at Budgam is being implemented,” he said.

“Community members can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue,” said the spokesman.
