SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Police have uncovered an illegal cannabis cultivation operation in Wagoora, Baramulla district, and arrested the individual responsible, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Acting on credible information, a joint team of officials from the Excise, Revenue, and Agriculture Departments raided the premises of Habibullah Ganie, son of Abdul Salam Ganie, a resident of Wagoora, and discovered cannabis plants being cultivated in his yard. The crop was destroyed on the spot.
The accused has been booked under FIR No. 76/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Kreeri, and an investigation has been initiated.
JK Police reiterated their commitment to a drug-free society and appealed to the public to assist authorities by providing information on illegal cultivation of cannabis or poppy, so strict legal action can be taken against offenders.
